The ratio means input water mass divided by dry coffee mass. These are arithmetic examples, not recommended brewing recipes.
Water input for 20 g coffee at 1 : 16
20 x 16 = 320
Water input is not the same as beverage yield. The calculation does not account for retained water, losses or a specific brewing method.
